RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL PROJECT - Executive Summary

 

Smithson Planning was engaged by the Ravensthorpe Shire Council (RSC) to project manage a change period anticipated to arise from the development of the Ravensthorpe Nickel Project. The Ravensthorpe contract was funded by the State Government through the Western Australian Department of Mineral & Petroleum Resources (MPR). The Blueprint for the Future Project was Federally funded under the Commonwealth Regional Solutions Program, and produced a corporate and strategic review of the Shires of Ravensthorpe, Esperance & Jerramungup taking into consideration various South East Coastal strategic planning initiatives. Care Consulting of Bunbury produced an Organisational Management Review for the Shire of Ravensthorpe, and AirBiz of Melbourne produced an Airport Business Plan for the now existing Code 3C airport.

HARDY INLET MANAGEMENT PLAN - Executive Summary & Management Plan

 

Smithson Planning was engaged by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River to produce the Hardy Inlet Management Plan (mouth of the Blackwood River at Augusta to Molloy Island). Rapid growth in the Shire and increasing urban, rural and tourism pressures in the Augusta area have led to the need to prepare a Management Plan for the Hardy Inlet to ensure long-term sustainable use and development as a strategic asset of the environment (economic, social and ecological).

BANDA ACEH - NIAS TRANSPORT PLAN - Executive Summary & Recommendations

 

Smithson Planning was engaged by the United Nations Development Program & BRR Indonesia to produce the Banda Aceh – Nias Transport Plan 2006 (all forms of transport related to land use & environment). Following the devastating impact of the December 2004 Tsunami and March 2005 Earthquake on Sumatra, Indonesia and the death of 250,000 people in the wider region, part of the disaster recovery process requires re-establishing transport, and related communications development infrastructure networks (seaport, airport, rail, roads). TWO PEOPLES BAY SATELLITE CITY - Concept Development Strategy

 

Smithson Planning is currently compiling documentation for presentation to the State Government of Western Australia via the WA Planning Commission and the Environmental Protection Authority; and to the City of Albany. The project makes provision for a new sustainable city on the South Coast of Western Australia having a projected population of 30,000 people; 15,000 residential dwellings; 6,000 freehold land parcels; a new Town Centre; dedicated conservation areas; an 830 pen marina with ocean access; a canal residential estate; a 27-hole international golf course; a University; a Hospital; a Noosa-styled coastal tourism precinct; and several dedicated resort hotel complexes.
